Out and about with the Branch

A mixed team and a ladies' team from the Branch entertained at two care homes in Annan the Sunday after Burns' Day. Helping with the programme were Ian Kirkpatrick with his fiddle, William Williamson, who sang and danced a Highland Fling, and Pat Clark, who accompanied on the piano. The residents in both places enjoyed the afternoon's entertainment, which was rounded off by the dancers. Joining them for Auld Lang Syne - and a well-earned cup of tea! Congratulations to Betty!

Betty and William

At the beginning of September we celebrated a very special birthday of Branch teacher, Betty Ferguson, at the Branch Tuesday adults' class. Betty was presented with a birthday card, gift and flowers by Branch Secretary, Janette Kirkpatrick, and Branch Chairman, William Williamson, said a few words about Betty and her outstanding contribution to Dumfries Branch, before presenting her with a copy of "All for Betty", a dance and music devised by Pat Clark to mark Betty's special birthday.

It all came as a complete surprise to Betty and she said she felt quite overwhelmed by the gifts and the special birthday cake.

Congratulations to Margaret!

Margaret and William

At the Branch Summer Dance Branch teacher, Margaret Davidson, was presented with an RSCDS Branch award. Branch Chairman, William Williamson, said "Margaret's loyalty to the RSCDS and to Dumfries Branch, in particular, is outstanding. Her own dancing technique is exemplary, and her popularity and thoroughness as a teacher is unquestionable. Margaret and her husband, David, travel far and wide to dancing events and are the very best ambassadors for the Branch."

Accepting the reward, Margaret commented that she was taken completely by surprise and she hoped all the dancers would continue to support the Branch and enjoy their dancing " just for fun".
