A number of dancers from Dumfries Branch attended the Autumn Gathering in Edinburgh at the beginning of November.
We held another class social with a programme of favourite dances.
We held a very successful workshop for Beginners and Improvers, with Gail Inglis taking the dancers through their paces, accompanied by George Meikle.

We held the last class social of the current session on Tuesday 16th April. There were about 40 dancers there and we all enjoyed a really great programme of favourite dances.
We held our Spring Ball in Dumfries High School and enjoyed a great evening of dancing to the music of Sandy Nixon’s Scottish Dance Band.

A weekend of celebrations in Glasgow, including a Centenary Ball in Glasgow City Chambers, organised by RSCDS Glasgow Branch, and the unveiling of a plaque at the former Athenaeum, where the first meeting of what became the RSCDS took place one hundred years ago.

A team of dancers from Dumfries Branch took part in the White Rose Festival. Unfortunately because of the weather the event took place indoors this year.
Our last Tuesday class for this session was a social dance. Alan Briers presented our Branch musician, George Meikle, with a bottle of whisky to thank him for playing for the Branch for 15 years.
We held our Summer Dance on a VERY hot evening - and we were grateful for the ceiling fans in the hall at Locharbriggs Community Centre.
The last Monday afternoon class for the current session was a social dance. Dancers enjoyed a fun afternoon of dancing on a beautiful sunny day.
A Ball was held in Edinburgh on 25th March as part of the RSCDS Centenary celebrations. Dumfries Branch was well represented.
Our Spring Ball was held in Dumfries High School. A great evening’s dancing. And the proceeds of the raffle - £275 - were given to Comic Relief.
We held our Christmas Dance recently and everyone looked very festive - lots of red, black and sparkle!

We held a workshop to go over the dances from the latest RSCDS Book - Book 52. We were delighted to welcome teachers from the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and other parts of England.
Some Branch members danced at the White Rose Festival, near Leeds, on a very hot, sunny day. Some sunbathing as well as dancing!
RSCDS Dumfries Branch was well represented at the Festival, with both children and adults taking part.
The dance floor was packed for our dance on 8th December. It was great to see so many dancers there from Dumfries as well as visitors from Cumbria, Yorkshire and elsewhere!
The Branch celebrated its 70th anniversary with a Ball held in Dumfries Academy. There were 160 dancers there, including the RSCDS Chairman, Helen Russell, and the RSCDS President, Jean Martin.

Both children's and adults' teams took part in the Scottish Country Dancing section of the Festival.
A mixed team and a ladies' team from the Branch entertained at two care homes in Annan on the Sunday after Burns' Day.
We held a successful workshop for improvers. Everyone seemed to enjoy it!
We held a very successful half-day school in September and were delighted to welcome a number of dancers from other areas, including Helensburgh, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Somerset. Everyone enjoyed a great afternoon's teaching by Janet Johnston accompanied by wonderful music from Ian Muir.
At the beginning of September we celebrated Betty Ferguson's special birthday.
On a VERY hot evening in July we were joined by a group of young Italian visitors. They had a great time and were very enthusiastic in joining in the dances.
There was a packed hall at Locharbriggs Community Centre for the Branch Summer Dance. A great evening's dancing was enjoyed by everyone there and there was a special presentation of a Branch award to teacher, Margaret Davidson.
The Branch Christmas dance was well attended and yet another enjoyable evening's dancing.
Dumfries Branch member David Davidson was part of the demonstration team at Week One of Summer School in St Andrews.
Even though the weather was very unseasonal, the dancers still enjoyed the summer dancing at the new venue, Locharbriggs Community Centre.

Our Dance Basics day for intermediate dancers in January 2015 was well attended and enjoyed by all who came along.
On the last of the 5 Tuesday evenings' summer dancing we held our Commonwealth Ceilidh.
The group of young Italians came to our summer dancing and had a wonderful time (as usual!).
