Dumfries classes

Dumfries RSCDS holds the following regular classes:

Adults - Live music from George Meikle

Classes run from the beginning of September until the end of May (Mondays) and the end of June (Tuesdays).

Mondays:

St Andrew’s Primary School, Craigs Road, Dumfries DG1 4EX

From 2nd September to 16th December 2019 7.30-9.30pm - General Class

Tuesdays:

Please note the change of venue.

Locharbriggs Community Centre, Auchencrieff Road, Locharbriggs, Dumfries DG1 1UX

From 3rd September to 17th December 2019 - 7.30-9.30pm - For adult dancers with some experience.

1st Sunday in the month:

Tinwald Parish Hall, Amisfield DG1 3LN

From 1st September 2019 - 2.30-4.30pm Advanced class - for more competent dancers. Criteria for joining this class is posted on the notice board or can be obtained from the Secretary.

Costs

The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society Headquarters are in Edinburgh. HQ runs Summer and Winter Schools each year, produces Dance Books and CDs of music to go with them. It also sets the standards for dancing, sets proficiency tests and teaching exams for those who want to take them. Members also receive two magazines a year.

As a regular dancer at the Dumfries Branch classes we would like you to consider joining the RSCDS. As well as paying for your classes, for the current dancing season this will cost, per year, Adult Single (age 25+) £21; 2 people living at the same address, Joint £34; Young Adult (age 18-24) £17 and Youth (age 12-17) £10. These figures include the Branch fee of £1.

Class fees - Dumfries Branch members pay £3 per class or £66 if paying in advance (provides 1 class each week from September to the end of March). Visitors pay £3 per class after their first free visit. Under 21s pay £2.50 per class. There is no additional charge for Branch members attending the Beginners and Improvers class. The cost for the Advanced class is £4 per class.
