Betty Ferguson’s 100th birthday celebrations

Dumfries Branch members and friends gathered for a special class on Monday 14th September to mark the 100th birthday of former teacher and Branch Chair Betty Ferguson. Members were joined by Betty and former secretary of almost 50 years Margaret Dickson and a number of former dancers.

Betty also represented Dumfries Branch for many years on the RSCDS Executive Council.

Ainslie Dunnet taught the dances with music from Wullie McRobert and George Meikle and the dance Miss Betty Ferguson of Dumfries was performed by a willing team made up of branch members.

Gillian Hardstone and members of the Lockerbie Branch also attended as Betty taught their class for 45 years.

Betty received gifts, cards and flowers and a beautiful birthday cake, made by Linda Shankland, and everyone enjoyed wonderful refreshments made by members.
